What you need to know…

When should I schedule my first alteration appointment?
Once you’ve found your perfect partner, it’s time for the dress of your dreams! Next up: finding the right shoes to match that amazing gown, and then you’re ready for alterations! I suggest contacting me to set up your alteration appointment as soon as you purchase the dress. At certain times of the year, my calendar can fill up.
Plan to have your first alterations appointment around 8 weeks before your big day. Planning some portraits before the day of the event? Then that “big day” becomes your portrait date. Otherwise, it’s simply your wedding date, Quinceanera, or other event date.
How long do alterations take?
The total alterations process typically takes around 6-8 weeks, involving 2-3 fittings on average. More extensive alterations or Vintage Restyling may require a longer timeline and more fittings.
Please note that appointments must be booked in advance.
Don’t have 8 weeks? I can usually accommodate a faster turn around. In a hurry? Please submit an inquiry form, and I’ll check my calendar.
What do I need to bring to my appointments?
Don’t forget to bring the shoes you plan to wear with your gown to every appointment, along with any specific undergarments you’ve already purchased. If you’re unsure about what to wear underneath, no worries! I have some ideas for you.
Feel free to bring any accessories (veils, earrings, necklace, etc.) you’d like to try with your gown at your Final Fitting! Final Fittings are the perfect opportunity for a “dress rehearsal” for the Big Day, and I absolutely love playing dress-up with my brides!
PLEASE NOTE: A change in shoes or undergarments could affect the fit of your gown, so it’s important to use the same ones for each fitting.
How much do alterations cost?
Without seeing what needs to be done and how the gown is constructed, I can’t give an accurate answer To that question. as a general rule, my brides usually fall between $200-$500. You will receive an estimate at the initial fitting. Unless additional work is requested, the total will not go beyond the high range of the estimate.
Whether it be your mom or your bestie, bring someone whose opinion you value most and who will make you feel like your most confident and beautiful self! If they are unable to make it to the appointment, I’m happy to set up a tripod so you can video chat with them, so they can be a part of the experience! I recommend someone from your bride tribe come to the final fitting, so they can learn how to do your gown’s bustle. If they cannot make it to the final fitting, do NOT stress! I’ll happily help film a quick bustle tutorial on your phone that you can send to a bridesmaid, mom, or planner!
What about Sizing / Ordering / Weight loss?
Almost all gowns can be safely sized down at least two dress sizes. compare your measurements to the gown’s size chart and order where you are – even if you plan on losing weight. Believe me – you don’t need that additional stress in your life!
As a general rule If you are in between sizes, always go up.
Order the size that fits your largest measurement, so if your bust is a size 18 and your waist is a size 16 – order the 18. It’s easier to adjust that waist in.
Weight Loss Alteration Appointment: If you are on GLP-1s or other weight loss meds and still losing weight, please let me know on your Inquiry Form. I’ll work with you to create a custom timeline that best suits your needs.
